The Hemis National Park is famous for its high population of snow leopards and different kind  of birds. The Hemis National park is the largest continuous protected region in India, Second only to Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. The park, spread  over area of 4400 sq km, a must visit  national park not just for wildlife enthusiasts, but also for photographers and Adventures person, and there are opportunities for both.

In the Hemis National Park there was no much rainfall throughout the year, as it is located in the rain shadow area of the Himalayas. Hence, the park is dotted with dry forests, with fir being present at lower altitudes.

In the Hemis national park you can easily find the trees of alpine and steppe, with its lower areas being dominated by plant species which require very less moisture including juniper, fir & dry birch. The park is also home to several rare and different kind of endangered medicinal plants.

It is also a  home to a variety of  beautiful birds, with some of the famous ones being lammergeier vulture, golden eagle, streaked rosefinch,  robin accentor, red-billed chough and fire-fronted serin.

Khangchendzonga narional Park is an UNESCO World Legacy Site and it covers an area of 1784 sq km. This high elevation public park in Yuksom is known for its dynamite natural life where fascinating creature species, for example, Red Panda, Snow Panther, Extraordinary Tibetan Sheep, Bharal, Musk deer and so on can be spotted.

6) Kaziranga National Park – Assam

Kaziranga National ParkKaziranga National Park is a national park in the Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nagaon districts of Assam , India. The sanctuary, which hosts two- third of the worlds great one-horned rhinoceroses. This is a world heritage site which declared by UNESCO in 1985

  • On 1 june 1905, the Kaziranga Proposed Reserve Forest Was Created.
  • In 1968, the state government passed the act of 1968, declared Kaziranga a Designated National park.
  • The 430 square k:m: (166 sq mi) park was official status by by the central government on 1974.
  • In 1985, Kaziranga was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment.
  • The One-Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Wild water buffalo And Swamp Deer are Collectively Known As ‘BIG FIVE’ of Kaziranga.

Census figures of Big Five are – One horned Rhino – 1855 (2006), Swamp Deer – 468 (2000), Wild Buffalo – 1431 (2001), Tiger – 85 (2000), Elephant – 1246 (2005).
